2008 Measurement Summit Preview
The
6th Annual When it comes to big-time events, politics has its party conventions, and sports has the Olympics. In the world of communications measurement, the major event is the Institute for Public Relation's Summit on Measurement, held each year at the Sheraton in Portsmouth, NH. The Summit brings together leading measurement minds and practitioners for a wide-ranging discussion of the practicalities of the present and the possibilities of the future. See this page on the IPR site for details and registration. This year's summit features many of KDPaine & Partners' favorite colleagues, including:
All Work and No Play? No Way... Of course, attendees adjourn from these high level discussions long enough to see something of the area's many attractions. It's fall foliage season, after all:
On Wednesday night is a reception at Strawbery Banke, New England's own version of Colonial Williamsburg -- a former red-light district turned historical site that depicts life in Portsmouth over the centuries. (If you've read Thomas Bailey Aldrich's Story of a Bad Boy, you'll recognize the territory.) Then on Thursday night is the annual lobster feast at Shankhassick Farm (Katie Paine's home), where your educational horizons will be further expanded by the ancient New England ritual of tearing crustaceans limb from limb, drowning them in butter and splattering as many of your neighbor as possible in the process:
We also offer refresher courses in best corn-on-the-cob chomping techniques and steamed clam extraction and consumption. (It's much more enjoyable than it sounds, we promise.) So if
you've any interest at all in advancing your measurement
knowledge, make plans now to come to Portsmouth in October. As we
mentioned, it's also the height of the fall foliage season, so make
a weekend of it. |
