The Measurement Maven and Menace of the Month Awards The Measurement Maven of the Month: For her amazing longitudinal study on the use of social media in educational, non-profit, Inc. 500, and Fortune 500 organizations. When Nora Barnes, (Director, Center for Marketing Research, UMass Dartmouth) did the first study in 2007 it was interesting. When I saw the results in 2008 it confirmed some hunches. But the 2009 data is really fascinating. The full studies will be available on www.sncr.org in a couple of weeks. But until then you can read my summary here. The Measurement Menaces of the Month: Organizations
that Use
Social Media In
this year's UMass Dartmouth study, Nora Barnes found
that the vast majority of organizations and companies aren't measuring
or
don't
know
how.
Amazingly, 40% of higher education organizations, Inc. 500, and Fortune
500 companies
say that they are not monitoring their brand,
products, or company name in social media. In
addition, the Tribalization
of Business Study of organization communities
found that lurkers aren't being
measured. For their lack of measurement
effort, these organizations receive
our
Measurement
Menace of the Month Award. --KDP |
