New
Survey Measures the State of the PR Profession in 2006
PRSA and Bacon's recently
performed a survey of over 15,000 PR professionals entitled "2006 State of the
PR Profession" to access their opinions about issues
and challenges the industry is facing. The results clearly
point toward increased focus on ethics and integrity, and respondents
also feel that PR is gaining more influence in establishing their
companies' reputations.
CyberAlert
PR Grants Awarded to 24 Non-Profit Organizations
CyberAlert, Inc., a worldwide media
monitoring, press clipping and TV news monitoring service, today announced
the 24 recipients of its 2007 Public Relations Grants to Not-for-Profit
Organizations. The 24 grants represent a 33% increase from the
previous year. Each grant is for one free year of online news monitoring
service
using CyberAlert 4.0. The total value of this year’s grants approximates
$65,000. Since starting the PR Grants program in 2004, CyberAlert has
awarded a total of 74 grants with a retail value of more than $125,000.

IPR Paper on Volume of Coverage
A new Institute paper by Angie
Jeffrey, David Michaelson, and Don Stacks is
entitled “Exploring the Link Between Volume of Media Coverage and Business
Outcomes .” This paper offers case studies comparing quality and
quantity of media coverage with business outcomes, using an artificial-intelligence
linguistics tool to analyze huge numbers of articles.

Apple Awards Includes Measurement
The PRSA NY chapter has issued a
call for entries for the Big Apple Awards. This year,
for the first time, the Institute will present a Best Use of Research,
Measurement and Evaluation Award -- an “uber-award” for
which all Big Apple category winners are automatically eligible.
