PR Weather Report for June

June is busting out
all over

“June is busting out all over, everything is in bloom...”

The problem with June is that no one pays attention to news. Baseball is getting into swing, kids are getting out of school, and vacations are being planned, so unless you can get your message or product into a commencement address, chances are slim that anyone will hear it.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t some interesting opportunities out there if you can fit your strategy to them. June is, after all, Dairy Month, Fireworks Safety Month, National Candy Month and National Fresh Fruit Month (ironic, huh?). Not to mention a very popular time for weddings.

Get ready to mark your calendars; here are some more key dates in June:

  • June 2: Dinosaur Day
  • June 5: Harvard Commencement and World Environment Day
  • June 6: Dalai Lama’s Birthday, D-Day and Shavuot
  • June 14: Flag Day
  • June 15: Father’s Day
  • June 19: Juneteenth
  • June 21: Summer Solstice
  • June 25: National Columnists Day
  • June 28: National Tapioca Day
  • June 28-29: Gay Pride Weekend
