PR Weather Forecast

In Like a Lion,
Out Like a Lamb

March is National Reading Month, and, with any luck, the media will celebrate by actually reading our press releases! But don’t hold your breath: With the mainstream media’s current focus on war, and the sense that any minute something of huge national significance may happen, it’s hard to get a reporter’s attention on down-home, feel-good topics like Girl Scout Week or Social Worker Month.

But March is good news if you can wrap your story either in beads or in blarney. The first weekend in March is Mardi Gras and the 17th is St. Patrick’s Day. And don’t forget the Vernal Equinox on the 20th. Also, after the winter we’ve had, if you can schedule a press junket in Arizona, Hawaii or the Caribbean, I can guarantee you that every reporter in New England will want to be there.

This is also the season for Home and Garden shows. Check out “The Ultimate Trade Show Resource” for the most comprehensive listing of shows we’ve seen.

Other events to prepare for:

  • Final Four NBA Playoffs begin March 18th
  • Easter Sunday on April 20th
