PR Weather Report for February

A Mix of Sun and Sleet:
Something for everybody.

If you thought February was only good for lovers, it also happens to be:

  • Black History Month
  • American Heart Month
  • International Friendship Month
  • Bird Feeding Month
  • Cherry Month
  • Dental Health Month
  • Grapefruit Month
  • and (as if it needed it) Snack Food Month

And day-wise, February hosts:

  • Chinese New Year (February 1)
  • Ground Hog Day (February 2)
  • Disaster Day (February 5)
  • Weatherman’s Day (February 5)
  • Ash Wednesday (February 12)
  • Lincoln’s Birthday (February 12)
  • Washington’s Birthday (February 22)
  • Sadie Hawkins Day (February 28),
  • and (you’ve got to love this one) Toothache Day (February 9)

So, if you’re doing PR for Match.com or George Washington, you’ve got it made in February. In fact, no matter who you are doing PR for, chances are good you can find a hook in all those days somewhere. As war fever heats up, look for strong interest in military and defense articles as well. One word of caution, The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts five feet of snow, so weather may blow away your announcement at any time.
